Residents of an apartment complex in Cybersouth, Dengkil, were left startled after a large king cobra was found inside a toilet at a community hall this morning.
The incident was shared on Threads by a resident, who uploaded several photographs showing the sizeable snake inside the toilet before firefighters arrived to capture it.
The resident, using the account @Irwxn_txhir, warned those living in areas close to forested land to remain alert, particularly after the snake was discovered at a hall near his home.
“Residents of Cybersouth living near the forest should be careful. A king cobra came to ‘visit’ the toilet at the hall near my house. This snake is huge,” he wrote in the post.
The photographs quickly attracted attention from other Cybersouth residents, many of whom expressed shock over the size of the reptile and discussed the potential danger posed by king cobras.
One user commented that the snake was exceptionally large, while another pointed out that king cobras are among the snakes known for preying on other snakes.
Others suggested that hot weather could have prompted the reptile to search for a cooler and more humid environment, which may have brought it closer to residential areas.
The unexpected encounter serves as a reminder for residents living near forested areas to stay vigilant, particularly when entering toilets, storage areas or other secluded spaces where wildlife may seek shelter.
The king cobra was eventually safely captured by firefighters, bringing relief to residents who had been alarmed by the unexpected visitor.
