Sprinter Azeem Matches National Record In US Championship Run

Date:

National sprinter Azeem Fahmi has equalled his own 100m national record after clocking 10.09s in the quarter-finals of the NCAA Track & Field East Regional Championships in the United States yesterday.

Malaysia Athletics confirmed that the 22-year-old has become the first Malaysian to qualify for the NCAA 100m grand final, which is set to take place in Oregon next month.

Competing for Auburn University, Azeem showed strong form throughout the event after running 10.13s in the opening round to advance comfortably into the quarter-finals.

His latest timing matched the national record he previously set at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.

The achievement marks another significant milestone in Azeem’s rising international sprinting career as he continues to compete at elite collegiate level in the US.
