Teen Hospitalised After Deodorant Can Gets Stuck in Anus

Date:

A 19-year-old teenager in Brazil was rushed to hospital after inserting a can of deodorant into his anus in a thrill-seeking act that went wrong, resulting in the object becoming lodged internally and impossible to remove on his own.

The teen required emergency medical treatment after the deodorant can was drawn deeper due to natural intestinal movement, according to the surgeon who treated him.

Dr Daniel, the attending surgeon, warned that such cases have become increasingly common in recent years. He said doctors have encountered patients who inserted a wide range of household objects, including vegetables, glass bottles and furniture parts, leading to serious medical emergencies.

The doctor cautioned that the digestive tract can generate strong suction through involuntary muscle contractions, making it extremely difficult — and dangerous — to retrieve objects once they become stuck.

“If the object perforates the intestine, it can cause severe infection, including peritonitis, which can be life-threatening,” he warned.

He advised members of the public to avoid experimenting with unsafe objects and urged those seeking physical exploration to use only certified products designed to meet safety standards.

Dr Daniel also stressed that embarrassment should never stop someone from seeking immediate medical help, as delayed treatment could result in faecal contamination of the abdominal cavity and severe complications.
