A wedding ceremony in Chaiyaphum has gone viral after a woman personally organised and led her husband’s marriage proposal procession to welcome a second wife into the family.

The unusual event, held in Nong Phai Subdistrict on May 15, drew huge attention from villagers and social media users after the first wife took on the role of matchmaker during the traditional ceremony.

The celebration featured a lively wedding procession involving more than 10 decorated vehicles, accompanied by a convoy of big bikes and attended by relatives, friends and villagers who gathered to congratulate the family.

According to reports, the first wife, identified as Yupin, led the ceremony by bringing a dowry of 300,000 baht in cash along with five baht weight of gold to formally ask for Ornuma to become the second wife of her husband, Wisanu.

The family reportedly selected the auspicious time of 9.09am to carry out the traditional wedding rituals.

Investigations revealed that Wisanu and Yupin have been married for more than 20 years and share one child together. Family members from both sides were said to have openly discussed and mutually agreed upon the arrangement before the ceremony took place.

Wisanu is reportedly a well-known entrepreneur in Chaiyaphum province, particularly recognised for operating a mobile rock band business with bookings throughout the year. He is also involved in online businesses and entertainment-related ventures in the area.

The ceremony quickly sparked heated reactions online, with many social media users expressing surprise over the arrangement, while others praised the family’s openness, mutual understanding and ability to celebrate the occasion peacefully without conflict.

The wedding has since become one of the most talked-about topics online in Thailand, with many netizens debating modern relationships, cultural acceptance and unconventional family dynamics.
