How long can hair grow? In Hebei, China, a woman dubbed the “Long Hair Princess” has been growing her hair since she was 15—now 22 years later, her hair stretches over 2 meters. At one point, someone offered 800,000 yuan (around RM510,000) to buy it, but she refused, revealing the sentimental reason behind her decision.
According to reports from Urban Channel and NetEase News, the woman from Zhengzhou, Henan, was inspired by her grandmother to grow her hair long. Over the years, she developed a strict hair care routine: using silicone-free shampoo, applying homemade tea seed oil after washing, using a warm blower to dry her hair in winter, and keeping it neatly arranged on the bed while sleeping. Even during her postpartum confinement after giving birth to her daughter, she only trimmed 10 centimeters, trembling as she did so.
Her hair measures 2.03 meters in length, with nearly three times the volume of an average person’s hair. She has never dyed or permed it, and it remains naturally black and shiny. Daily grooming takes her about an hour, while washing her hair requires at least 40 minutes.
In August, a wig company offered 800,000 yuan (around RM510,000) on the spot, praising it as “the best natural hair seen this year,” but she declined. The hair resale market values over 1 meter of dyed or permed hair at roughly 2,000 yuan per jin (half a kilogram), with prices rising from 30,000 to 800,000 yuan (approximately RM19,000 to RM510,000) in the past five years.
Yet, she insists on keeping it: “This hair has accompanied me from being a young girl to becoming a mother; it’s more precious than money.” She jokingly added, “What if one day someone offers 1 million or 2 million yuan (around RM637,000 to RM1.27 million)? Then I’d get rich!”
