Chinese Superstar Fan Bingbing Dreams Of Singing Malay Songs With Siti Nurhaliza

Date:

Melaka Tourism Friendship Ambassador Datuk Fan Bingbing has expressed admiration for Malaysia’s top singer, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, and hopes to learn how to sing Malay songs from the award-winning artist.

Bingbing said watching the “Biduanita Negara” perform during the official launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 on Saturday night was inspiring, calling Siti Nurhaliza’s artistic journey “truly extraordinary.”

“Her stage aura is so powerful, and I was amazed by how she delivered such a spectacular closing performance. I felt very lucky to meet and take a photo with her, and if given the chance, I’d love to learn Malay songs from her as a form of cultural collaboration,” she told a press conference on Sunday.

The international actress added she was thrilled to be able to present Siti Nurhaliza with products from her own brand as a gesture of appreciation.

Bingbing said she is ready to expand her artistic collaborations with both international and local artists, while also promoting Melaka globally following her reappointment as Melaka Tourism Ambassador for Visit Melaka Year 2026.

She said the success of promotional activities in 2025 encouraged her to return to the historic state with a focus on showcasing its culture, food, murals and hospitality to foreign tourists.

“Although specific projects like new murals or promotional videos have yet to be finalized by the state government and related parties, I’m excited to do it again because of the warm reception from the people and leaders of Melaka. This indirectly opens doors for international interaction through tourism,” she said.

Bingbing also believes Melaka has huge potential as a filming location and performing arts venue because of its cultural diversity and unique heritage.

The actress, who starred in Hollywood’s superhero movie X-Men: Days of Future Past, said she has also had the chance to meet several young Malaysian directors including Chong Keat Aun while promoting Melaka as a tourism destination.

“Melaka is not only historic but also an ideal place to produce creative works that can be introduced to the world. I hope to continue being a bridge that connects Melaka with the international community,” she said.
