South Korean actress Kang Mi Na has revealed that she underwent a major physical transformation, losing around 13 kilograms for her upcoming acting projects.
In an interview held on 29 April at a café in Jongno District, Seoul, the actress spoke about her preparation for the Netflix series If Wishes Could Kill, sharing details of her weight loss journey and filming experience.
She said the transformation took place over a period of two to three months after completing If Wishes Could Kill, adding that she has maintained her new weight since then.
“I recently lost about 13 kilograms,” she said, explaining that her appetite naturally decreased during the period. She also clarified that she did not use any form of diet injections amid public speculation.
Kang Mi Na described her diet approach as simple but disciplined, often relying on controlled portions such as half a Subway sandwich for lunch and the remaining half for dinner. She said she occasionally alternated with salads and diet wraps to maintain consistency.
When the routine became difficult, she admitted to occasionally eating spicy tteokbokki as a form of comfort food while still managing to stay on track with her fitness goals.
She revealed that part of her motivation came from another project, See You at Work Tomorrow!, which included a swimsuit scene that required her to focus more closely on her physical condition. She confirmed that the scene had already been filmed and said she was satisfied with the result.
With a light-hearted remark, she joked that if a wish-granting app like the one featured in If Wishes Could Kill existed, she would wish for a way to eat freely without gaining weight.
If Wishes Could Kill, released on 24 April, is a fantasy thriller about students targeted by a cursed wish-granting application named Kirigo, forcing them into a struggle for survival.
