K-Pop Goes Hollywood: Hybe Teams Up with Paramount for Global Feature Film

Date:

Hybe America, the U.S. arm of BTS’ agency Hybe, is partnering with Paramount Pictures to co-produce an upcoming K-pop-inspired feature film, the companies announced on July 23. Slated for theatrical release in early 2027, the movie aims to replicate the global success of hits like K-Pop Demon Hunters.

The yet-untitled film follows the story of a Korean American teenager who goes against her family’s expectations to audition for a reality TV competition, chasing her dream of joining a K-pop girl group.

Leading the cast are Yoo Ji-young—known for voicing Joy in K-Pop Demon Hunters—and Korean-American singer-actor Eric Nam, who recently starred in the U.S. medical drama Transplant.

Filming is set to begin in mid-September and will take place entirely in South Korea, marking the first time a major Hollywood studio conducts full-scale production exclusively on Korean soil.

Directed by Korean-American filmmaker Benson Lee, the screenplay is penned by Eileen Shim. The production team includes James Shin, president of film and TV at Hybe America, alongside Arthur Spector and Joshua Davis from Epic Magazine, and Hybe board member Scooter Braun.

Executive producers Joshuah Bearman, John Zaozirny, and Scott Manson, all from Epic Magazine, are also on board. Bryan Oh, senior VP at Paramount Pictures, will oversee the project for the studio.
