Vincent Tan Becomes First Malaysian aboard EHang EH216-S Pilotless eVTOL

Date:

Berjaya Corporation Bhd (BJCORP) founder and adviser Tan Sri Vincent Tan has become the first Malaysian to experience a flight aboard the EHang EH216-S, an autonomous passenger-carrying electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Berjaya Corporation shared footage of Tan’s flight experience on its official Facebook page, offering a closer look at the aircraft and the potential of autonomous air mobility in urban transport.

After completing the flight, Tan said the aircraft was quieter than he had expected, adding that the noise level was low enough that passengers did not need to wear headphones.

“I think the experience is better than riding in a helicopter,” he said.

Developed by China-based EHang, the EH216-S is a pilotless eVTOL aircraft designed for passenger transportation and urban air mobility applications.

The aircraft operates without an onboard pilot and is part of a new generation of electric aviation technology aimed at providing short-distance air transport in urban environments.

Tan’s flight marked a milestone for Malaysia, giving him first-hand experience of a technology increasingly being explored as a possible component of future city transportation systems.
