A 10-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in a shocking incident at a school in Moscow on Tuesday.
Investigators said the attacker was a 15-year-old student armed with a knife and pepper spray. The suspect also injured a security guard during the attack at a school in the Gorki-2 village area.
Authorities, including a bomb disposal unit, were deployed to Uspenskaya Comprehensive School after other students fled the scene, seeking refuge at a nearby sports complex or hiding inside classrooms.
During a search, bomb disposal officers discovered a modified explosive device believed to belong to the suspect.
“A full investigation has been launched to determine the suspect’s motive. He is believed to be affiliated with a destructive youth movement,” local media reported.
The victim was stabbed multiple times and died from severe injuries, according to investigators.
The incident occurred just one day after another stabbing, in which a student in the Krasnogvardeisky district of Saint Petersburg attacked a teacher after failing an exam.
