A 12-year-old boy was injured after an iron bicycle pedal rod pierced his abdomen at Jalan Charok Bemban, Kampung Charok Sikin, today.
Baling Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil, said they received an emergency call at 5.30pm regarding the incident.
Following the alert, a BBP Baling team led by Senior Fire Officer II Juhairi Osman and six personnel rushed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, our team found the boy still at the location, in pain. He is believed to have fallen off his bicycle before the pedal rod punctured his abdomen.
“It took about 40 minutes for the team to carefully cut the metal rod using special equipment to avoid further bleeding and internal injuries,” he said when contacted.
Zulkhairi added that the boy was then handed over to the Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel for further treatment, and the operation concluded at 6.17pm.
