A 13-year-old boy was found dead after going missing during a swimming incident at an artificial pond in Senadin, Miri, earlier today.
According to preliminary information from the fire and rescue department, the incident occurred around 11am when the teenager was swimming with seven friends at the site. All other children involved were reported safe.
Bomba Malaysia said it received an emergency call shortly after the incident and immediately deployed personnel to the scene, including its water rescue unit.
Search and rescue operations were launched at the location, with divers conducting underwater efforts to locate the missing teenager.
The victim, a 13-year-old from the local community, was later found at 12.21pm inside the pond.
However, rescue teams confirmed that he showed no signs of life upon recovery.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
