A 26-year-old man in Thailand was killed in a motorcycle crash shortly after receiving an early Valentine’s Day present from his girlfriend.
The fatal accident occurred at about 1am on February 12 in Bang Bua Thong district, Nonthaburi province. Police were alerted to the incident near the Bang Rak Phatthana subdistrict and arrived at the scene alongside rescue personnel and a duty doctor.
Authorities found the victim lying on the road median, with his black Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle nearby. The front portion of the motorcycle was badly damaged.
A witness who had been driving some distance behind the rider told police that the man appeared to have struck a pothole. The impact allegedly caused him to lose control before he skidded across the road. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved. Investigators are reviewing security camera footage in the area to confirm the sequence of events.
The man’s girlfriend later arrived at the scene and was reportedly overwhelmed with grief. Officers also discovered a bag hanging from the motorcycle containing a tumbler engraved with the victim’s face, believed to be the early Valentine’s Day gift he had just received.
