28-Year-Old Arrested After Reckless Motorcycle Ride And Punching Police Officer

Date:

An unemployed man was arrested early this morning in Taman Gembira, Klang, after recklessly riding a motorcycle and injuring a police officer.

According to South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, the incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. when the 28-year-old suspect rode his motorcycle dangerously and collided with a Toyota Rush driven by a 55-year-old local man.

The driver stopped to check for damage, which led to a verbal altercation with the suspect. “The suspect then acted aggressively, throwing a can of alcohol at the complainant, who managed to dodge it and called the police for assistance,” Ramli said.

Upon seeing a police patrol vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee on his motorcycle, nearly hitting the driver. During the arrest, a struggle ensued, and the suspect punched a police officer in the face. He was eventually apprehended, and his motorcycle was seized for investigation.

Further checks revealed the suspect has a previous drug-related record and is currently remanded for three days for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 279 and Section 353 of the Penal Code for reckless driving and criminal use of violence against a public servant.

“The investigating officer is completing the investigation, and the case file will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office soon,” Ramli added. He urged anyone with information about the incident to contact their nearest police station or the South Klang District Police Headquarters at 03-3376 2222 to assist with the investigation.
