A local man was found dead in a blood-soaked condition inside an apartment unit here late Wednesday night.
The 33-year-old victim, who worked as a technician, was discovered lying inside the residence at around 10.50pm.
According to Raub Selamat, police received a report regarding the incident at approximately 11.12pm on the same day.
Preliminary investigations at the scene also uncovered a knife beside the victim, which is believed to have been used during the incident.
“Further investigations are being carried out to determine the motive behind the murder,” he said in a statement on Thursday night.
Police are currently investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“If convicted, the offender may face the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, along with no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane,” he added.
