A 6-year-old boy was seriously injured after being hit by the school bus responsible for his transport. The incident occurred on August 4 at around 11:50 a.m. in the Taman Mantau Indah 3 residential area in Seremban.
Seremban police chief Mohamad Harda stated that the school bus, driven by a 38-year-old woman, was ferrying students from Taman Mantau Indah Kindergarten back home. When the bus arrived at the boy’s caregiver’s house, he got off and walked to the front of the bus, preparing to cross the road.
However, the driver apparently did not notice the boy in front and started moving the vehicle, striking him and causing him to fall and sustain injuries to his head, body, and limbs. The boy was immediately rushed to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for treatment.
The police have opened an investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities are appealing to witnesses to contact investigating officer Norfasra at 019-4611794 or visit the nearest police station to assist with the inquiry.
Mohamad Harda reminded all public transport drivers to always be vigilant of passengers after they alight and to ensure their safety before continuing to drive.
