65-Year-Old Woman Found Alive Moments Before Cremation in Shocking Coffin Discovery

Date:

A 65-year-old woman who was believed to have died the night before was found alive inside her coffin—just moments before she was due to be cremated in Bang Yai district on Sunday.

The shocking discovery occurred at Wat Rat Prakongtham, which later livestreamed the incident. The woman’s family had transported her body in a coffin under the temple’s “Final Home” funeral support programme.

As temple staff opened the coffin for the final rites, they noticed the woman moving—realising she was, in fact, still alive.

Her younger brother told reporters that the family had rushed from Phitsanulok after local officials informed them she had passed away.
“I’ve cared for my sister for three years,” he said. “Officials told us she was dead. They issued all the documents, so we placed her in a coffin and brought her here for cremation.”

Temple workers said they were stunned when they opened the coffin and saw her showing signs of life. The abbot immediately ordered she be taken to hospital and assured the family that all medical expenses would be covered.

Doctors later confirmed the woman had not suffered cardiac arrest or stopped breathing. Instead, she had experienced severe hypoglycemia—dangerously low blood sugar. She received urgent treatment and is now under close medical observation.
