A young boy drowned after reportedly falling into a drain along Jalan Chenderong Balai, Labu Kubong near Teluk Intan early this morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department’s Acting Assistant Director of Operations, Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, said the seven-year-old is believed to have fallen into a two-metre-deep drain sometime between 5pm and 6pm yesterday.
He said a team from the Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 12:23am.
“Villagers had tried to search for the victim but were unsuccessful. Our search operation found the boy at the bottom of the water about 800 metres from where he was reported to have fallen,” he said.
The body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation concluded at about 4:10am.
