A newly appointed Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been arrested by police in connection with a drug-related case on Tuesday.
In a statement, the MACC confirmed it was aware of the arrest.
“The officer was detained by police at his residence, where a search uncovered a substance suspected to be drugs.
“The MACC is leaving the investigation entirely to the authorities and guarantees full cooperation in the matter,” the statement read.
The Commission stressed it would not tolerate any misconduct, breach of the law or criminal acts committed by any of its officers or staff. It also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and governance of the organisation at all times.
