Babysitter Arrested After One-Year-Old Girl Dies in Seremban

Date:

A one-year-old girl was pronounced dead after being brought unconscious to a private clinic in Bandar Sendayan on Monday, prompting police to arrest her babysitter.

Seremban police chief ACP Azahar Abdul Rahim said the toddler was taken to the clinic by her mother at 5.50pm, where the attending doctor performed CPR. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, the child was confirmed dead shortly after.

Initial investigations revealed that the girl had been under the care of a 32-year-old babysitter and appeared to be in a weakened state prior to being taken to the clinic.

“The victim had been looked after by the babysitter for about five months. A post-mortem conducted at Rembau Hospital found injuries on the child’s abdomen,” Azahar said in a statement today.

Police arrested the babysitter following the findings. She has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
