Baker Strangles To Death After Scarf Gets Caught In Dough Mixer

Date:

A small town in central Greece, Damasi, is mourning the tragic death of 49-year-old baker Zoe Letsiou, who was strangled when her scarf became entangled in a dough mixer at her bakery, local authorities reported.

According to The Sun, the accident occurred on November 13. Letsiou was reportedly cleaning the mixer alone, and the machine may not have been fully powered off. When the mixer suddenly activated, her scarf became caught in the rotating drum, wrapping around her neck and causing suffocation.

Witnesses said a regular customer noticed Letsiou had been missing for some time and went into the shop to check, discovering the accident. Emergency personnel arrived quickly and attempted resuscitation, but Zoe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her brother-in-law told local media that Zoe was normally careful and meticulous at work, suggesting the incident may have been caused by a momentary lapse.

Nearby business owners described her as a hardworking and friendly presence, one of the most beloved faces in the village. The news has left the local community in shock and grief.

Police have opened an investigation to determine whether the mixer’s design or operational procedures contributed to the fatal accident. Zoe had run her bakery for several years and was highly respected and trusted by the residents. Following the tragedy, social media has been flooded with messages of condolence and remembrance.
