Body Of Man Believed To Have Drowned Found In Sungai Kerayong

Date:

The body of a man believed to have drowned was found floating in Sungai Kerayong along Jalan Cheras on Wednesday afternoon.

The discovery was reported to authorities at around 5.13pm, prompting a response from police, the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and medical personnel who were dispatched to the scene for further inspection.

Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said preliminary checks revealed the victim to be an unidentified male, estimated to be under 30 years old.

He added that early investigations suggested the man is believed to have died by drowning, with the incident thought to have occurred two to three days prior to the discovery.

Forensic teams from the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters also conducted checks on the body and found no visible signs of foul play at this stage.

The remains have been sent to the Forensic Unit at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) in Cheras for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

The case has been classified as sudden death while investigations continue.
