Cop Admits Calling In Fake Bomb Threat In Restaurant: “I Just Didn’t Want To Attend Farewell Party”

Date:

A police officer in Saga has landed himself in serious trouble after allegedly making a fake bomb threat to avoid attending his own farewell party.

The bizarre incident reportedly began in March when a restaurant received a chilling phone call from an unidentified man.

According to staff, the caller ordered an employee to “go check the entrance”.

When workers investigated, they found a handwritten note claiming: “I have planted a bomb.”

The terrifying threat forced the restaurant to immediately cancel a scheduled farewell dinner involving a group of coworkers.

Thankfully, no explosives were found and authorities later confirmed the bomb threat was a hoax.

However, what shocked investigators even more was the identity of the suspect behind the incident.

Police later discovered that the man responsible was allegedly the very same officer the farewell party had been organised for.

The officer, reportedly in his 20s and attached to the central division of the Saga Prefectural Police, was preparing to leave the force at the end of March.

During questioning, the officer allegedly admitted to making the threat and reportedly confessed: “I didn’t want to go to my farewell party.”

The strange motive quickly triggered stunned reactions online, with many netizens calling the situation “unbelievably awkward”.

Ironically, the failed attempt to avoid one final work gathering appears to have extended the officer’s time with the force.

Instead of leaving in March as originally planned, he reportedly remained employed until April 30 after receiving a formal reprimand.

The case has since been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of intimidation and obstruction of business.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the former officer will face trial.

The bizarre case has also sparked discussion online about workplace culture and the pressure surrounding farewell parties and after-work social gatherings in Japan.

Still, many netizens agreed on one thing — making a fake bomb threat is definitely not the best way to skip an office dinner.
