A pickup truck allegedly driven under the influence of “vape mushroom” crashed into an auto spare parts shop and hit a pedestrian along Jalan Besar Kuantan here yesterday.

The incident left a 68-year-old pedestrian injured.

Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah, said the 11.30am incident occurred when the Toyota Hilux was travelling from Jalan Teluk Sisek towards Kuantan town.

“When the vehicle reached the location, while moving straight, it suddenly lost control and struck a pedestrian before crashing into the shop,” he said.

He added that the elderly pedestrian sustained injuries as a result of the impact.

Following the incident, police detained the 21-year-old driver to assist investigations.
