A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 68-year-old man at Laguna Park condominium in Marine Parade.
Yeo Tze How appeared in a district court on November 15 over the killing of Tham Lup Hong, which occurred at the lift lobby on the 13th floor of 5000C Marine Parade Road between 12.20pm and 12.45pm on November 13.
Investigations revealed that the two men were allegedly involved in a dispute, though court documents did not clarify their relationship. Tham was taken unconscious to Changi General Hospital, where he later died.
Police initially arrested Yeo for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means. Two penknives were seized from the scene.
During the court hearing via video link, Yeo reportedly requested the judge to sentence him to death. The prosecution informed the court that investigations are ongoing and that sentencing cannot proceed at this stage. Yeo was remanded for three weeks to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
This marks the seventh murder in Singapore in 2025, and Yeo is the third individual charged with murder in just the past week. Earlier cases involved Tan Boon Hui, 58, and Poh Choon Kiat, 59, who were charged with fatally stabbing Jaganthan Arunasalam on November 8 at Block 51 Chin Swee Road.
Knife-related crimes have been rising, with 75 incidents reported in the first half of 2025, up from 59 in the same period in 2024. The total number of knife-related crimes for 2024 was 131.
Yeo’s case is scheduled for the next hearing on December 5. If convicted of murder, he could face the death penalty.
