The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) has ordered a food premises in Sebiew to shut down for 14 days after inspectors found poor hygiene conditions, including the presence of cockroaches in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
The enforcement operation was carried out yesterday afternoon during a routine health inspection in the area.

According to BDA, the inspection revealed that the premises failed to comply with food safety and public health standards, posing a potential risk to consumers.
As a result, the authority immediately ordered the outlet to cease operations with effect from the same day.
The operator has also been instructed to carry out thorough cleaning and make necessary improvements within the 14-day closure period before being allowed to resume business.
BDA stressed that strict enforcement actions will continue against any food establishments that fail to meet hygiene requirements, in order to safeguard public health and consumer safety.
