Eight people escaped unharmed after an early morning fire destroyed a house and five vehicles in Kampung Lima Kongsi today.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis confirmed that all occupants were safe, with no injuries or fatalities reported.
The fire was reported at 4.17am, and firefighters from the Sungai Bakap station arrived within minutes. The blaze engulfed a semi-permanent house measuring roughly 80 by 10 square feet, causing about 80 per cent damage.
Flames also spread to five vehicles in the compound, including a Perodua Kancil, a van, and three motorcycles — a Demak, a Modenas Kriss, and a Honda EX5.
John said initial investigations confirmed that no one was inside the house when the fire broke out. “There were eight occupants — four men and four women — and all are safe,” he said.
A total of 19 personnel from the Sungai Bakap and Batu Kawan fire stations were deployed, with support from police and the Valdor Volunteer Fire Brigade.
