An elderly man was killed in a road accident involving two motorcycles after he reportedly crashed into a paddy trailer container left by the roadside in Sungai Nibong, Sekinchan, last night.
The incident occurred along Jalan Tali Air 11, Ban 1, at about 10pm when the 70-year-old victim was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle from Ban 1 towards Ban 2.
Sabak Bernam district police chief, Md Yusof Ahmad, said the victim is believed to have collided with the rear of a paddy trailer container parked on the left side of the road before falling onto the roadway.
At the same time, a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle travelling from the same direction was unable to avoid the fallen victim and subsequently struck him, resulting in a secondary impact at the scene.
The incident once again highlights the importance of road safety awareness, particularly in rural and semi-rural areas where agricultural machinery and daily traffic often share narrow road spaces.
The victim suffered injuries to the face and head and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Yamaha Y15ZR rider sustained facial injuries.
The body was sent to Sabak Bernam Hospital for post-mortem examination, while the owner of the paddy trailer container has been recorded to assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and police are urging witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation.
