Ex-Husband Attacks Woman with Fire Extinguisher and Dustpan in Domestic Dispute

Date:

In Daliao District, Kaohsiung, a violent incident occurred on the evening of October 29, leaving a woman with severe head injuries. A man surnamed Hung, reportedly in a dispute with his ex-wife, attacked her using a fire extinguisher and a metal dustpan, causing a laceration to her head. The injured woman was immediately sent to the hospital, while Hung later surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody following a court ruling.

According to Lin Yuan Police Precinct, the initial dispute occurred around 5:06 p.m. on Hedi Road over minor work-related disagreements. The couple, aged 59 and 54 respectively, are divorced and no longer live together but still work together. Police noted that there was no ongoing physical conflict when they arrived. The woman subsequently filed for a protection order and reported the injuries, with officers advising her to call for help if she felt unsafe.

Later that evening at 7:24 p.m., police were alerted again to a physical attack on Minyang Street. Upon arrival, they found the woman bleeding from head injuries caused by Hung’s use of a fire extinguisher and metal dustpan outside her home. Hung fled the scene but turned himself in at the police station around 7:40 p.m.

Hung was subsequently charged with assault, attempted murder, and violating the Domestic Violence Prevention Act. The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors’ Office requested preventive detention, and the Kaohsiung District Court has ordered him held in custody pending further investigation.
