An 84-year-old retired soldier sustained minor injuries after the car he was driving was involved in a three-vehicle collision at Jalan 34/26, Wangsa Maju, on Thursday afternoon.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at about 3.15pm when the victim, driving a Nissan Latio, was travelling from Jelatek towards Sri Rampai.
Preliminary investigations found that the elderly driver allegedly lost control of his vehicle before crashing into two parked cars, a Toyota Corolla Cross and a Proton Saga, along the left side of the road. The impact caused his vehicle to overturn.
The 84-year-old was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for outpatient treatment after sustaining minor injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Toyota Corolla Cross, a 36-year-old Arab man who was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, and the 28-year-old owner of the Proton Saga were not injured.
Authorities believe the crash may have been caused by a sudden medical issue, with the Nissan Latio driver reportedly experiencing bladder pain that led to a loss of control.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have also urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to assist investigations.
