Seremban police are investigating a claim that a 56-year-old man lost RM1.5 million after being allegedly duped by a female actor and her husband.
The scam reportedly involved the sale of a “lot kurnia” land in Selangor that does not exist. The victim lodged a police report on 7 January.
According to Seremban District Police Chief, Asst. Comm. Azahar Abdul Rahim, “The actress and her husband are suspects in a case involving the sale of non-existent land in Selangor, causing losses amounting to RM1.5 million.”
Police said initial investigations indicate that both suspects are currently in Sarawak. “They have been listed as wanted and are under special monitoring by the Malaysian Immigration Department for tracking and arrest,” he added.
Earlier reports suggested that the actress was also involved in alleged fraud related to cosmetics products. A beauty entrepreneur claimed on social media platform Threads that she lost RM300,000 in dealings with the actor and her husband, while other victims may have suffered losses reaching millions.
Netizens have since speculated about the identity of the actress, noting her long absence from the entertainment industry. Police confirmed that several complaints have been lodged, and the actress shared screenshots of messages from other alleged victims, including copies of her and her husband’s MyKad, on social media.
Authorities continue to probe the case, with initial steps taken to track the suspects outside Peninsular Malaysia.
