Walt Disney World has confirmed the death of a fifth person in under a month, this time at the Saratoga Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. The unidentified guest passed away on the afternoon of November 8.
Disney’s X (formerly Twitter) account posted a brief update at 3:18 p.m., first stating “person down” and minutes later confirming “dead person.” The theme park has not provided further details, and authorities have yet to release an official report.
The recent death follows a string of unrelated fatalities at Disney World over the past month. On October 14, 31-year-old Disney superfan Summer Equitz died by suicide at the Contemporary Resort Hotel. A week later, a 60-year-old man traveling with his wife died from a medical episode at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. On October 23, 28-year-old aspiring NFL referee Matthew Cohn also died by suicide at the Contemporary Resort. The fourth death occurred on November 2, when a woman in her 40s was found unresponsive at the Pop Century Resort.
The latest incident took place at the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, a Victorian-style hotel inspired by a late 19th-century New York retreat. Guests at the resort can enjoy villas, pools, a spa, and proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios via the Skyliner gondola system.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the guest was later pronounced dead at a hospital, and no foul play has been reported. Since Walt Disney World opened in 1971, a total of 70 deaths have occurred across the resort.
Disney’s website highlights the resort’s “charming, Victorian-style” setting nestled among golf course greens and Lake Buena Vista.
