Foreign Women Caught Working Without Permit In Miri Entertainment Raids

Date:

Four foreign women were fined RM800 each by the Miri Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to violating social visit pass conditions by working without valid permits.

The accused, aged between their 30s and 40s, comprise one Indonesian, one Laotian, and two Thai nationals.

They were charged under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Act 1963, which provides for fines or imprisonment if the fine is not paid.

All four were detained during Op Noda raids conducted by police at a entertainment centre and a foot and body massage outlet along Jalan Merpati and the Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre on May 17.

Miri district police chief Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said authorities will continue to carry out regular and surprise inspections on entertainment premises and businesses suspected of illegal activities.

He said the enforcement actions are aimed at preventing immoral activities and abuse of social visit passes in the district.

He also advised the public to avoid visiting premises suspected of illegal operations to prevent becoming victims of crime and exploitation.
