In Taipei’s Xinyi District in the early hours of December 18, a personal trainer lost control after being rejected by a female trainee he liked. When he saw her walking with another man, jealousy took over, prompting him to physically attack both her companion and an innocent bystander.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m., when the trainer, surnamed Luo, reportedly asked the woman to go home with him. After she declined, Luo spotted her with another man and immediately became aggressive, throwing punches. The man quickly called the police.
Witnesses described the scene: a man in a black cap suddenly grabbed a man in a white shirt by the neck, trying to throw him to the ground—fortunately, nearby officers intervened in time. “Publicly shaming him might teach him a lesson,” one onlooker commented.
A large police presence eventually subdued the trainer, who remained combative and verbally abusive upon arrival. Due to his muscular build, it took at least six officers to restrain him and place him under control.
Authorities noted that the incident appeared to stem from jealousy after a failed romantic advance. Police emphasized that relationships should respect mutual consent and personal freedom, and that no matter one’s physical strength, losing control over emotions can only lead to legal consequences.
