High-Voltage Power Line Falls in Henan, Electrocuting Passerby and Causing Vehicle Explosion

A shocking accident occurred in Xinyang, Henan Province, China, when a high-voltage power line suddenly fell from above, causing a passerby to be electrocuted to death. The fallen wire also struck a parked vehicle, triggering an explosion and fire. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

According to a report by Guizhou TV’s “People’s Concern” channel, the incident happened on August 6 near Huangchuan County in Xinyang. CCTV footage showed a pedestrian passing by when the high-voltage line unexpectedly dropped, electrocuting the person instantly and causing fatal injuries.

The fallen wire immediately sparked a fierce fire, engulfing the nearby vehicle in flames, with thick smoke rising into the sky. Local businesses and passersby fled the scene in panic.

A witness from a nearby shop recalled, “The wire fell while still sparking, and the fire quickly spread to a parked car, which then exploded.”

Another eyewitness said that fortunately, the area was not crowded at the time; otherwise, the consequences could have been far worse.

After the accident, multiple departments including the police, firefighters, and power supply authorities quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area and manage the situation.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, and the power company responsible for the fallen cable has yet to make a public statement.

Huangchuan County’s local government confirmed the accident and said the investigation into the exact cause and responsibility for the fallen cable is ongoing.
