IJM Chairman Cleared As MACC Ends RM2.5 Billion Probe With No Further Action

Date:

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has completed its investigation involving IJM Corporation Bhd non-executive chairman Tan Sri Krishnan Tan and classified the case as “no further action” (NFA).

In a statement, IJM welcomed the conclusion of the investigation linked to Sunway Berhad’s voluntary takeover offer.

The company said that, as previously announced to Bursa Malaysia on March 24, the MACC had confirmed that the investigation did not involve IJM Corporation Bhd as an entity.

“The company has extended full cooperation to the MACC throughout the process and remains committed to assisting the authorities whenever required.

“With this matter now resolved, IJM will continue moving forward with determination, focusing on executing its strategic priorities and unlocking portfolio value across the group’s core businesses,” the statement said on Friday.

Meanwhile, Krishnan, in a personal statement, welcomed the outcome and maintained that he had consistently upheld his innocence throughout the investigation.

“The investigation and the publicity surrounding it caused significant damage to my reputation and affected the legacy of my years in public and corporate service.

“It also placed immense pressure on my family, friends, and the organisations I represent. I am deeply grateful to all of them, especially my wife, family members, and close friends who stood firmly by my side,” he said.

Krishnan added that he was putting the difficult period behind him and moving on with life as usual.

In February, the MACC detained Krishnan to assist investigations linked to alleged issues involving corporate governance, procurement processes, financial transactions, and overseas asset ownership estimated to be worth around RM2.5 billion.
