(Kuala Lumpur, 25th) — An illegal syndicate that collected subsidized diesel and resold it at higher prices had been operating for four months before being dismantled by police. Eight individuals were arrested, and more than RM640,000 worth of subsidized diesel was seized.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department’s General Operations Force Wildlife Crime / Special Intelligence Investigation Unit operations commander, Datuk Mohamad Zaki Ashaar, said in a statement today that authorities, in collaboration with the Shah Alam City Council and Petaling Jaya City Council, conducted “Op Taring” from 4pm to 10pm yesterday across several locations in Selangor. Three warehouses in the Shah Alam and Sungai Buloh areas were raided.

He said that during the operation, police arrested two employees, one factory supervisor, one tanker driver, one attendant, one factory manager, one warehouse caretaker, and one security guard. Authorities also seized two tanker lorries, 10 IBC tanks, six hoses and electric pumps, 12 skid tanks, as well as subsidized diesel valued at RM640,000.

He added that the syndicate had been active since the beginning of this year, collecting subsidized diesel across Selangor and selling it at RM4 to RM5 per litre to industrial construction companies and diesel storage companies in the Klang Valley.

Mohamad Zaki Ashaar said police are investigating the case under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating permit conditions, while the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is investigating under Section 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

He added that the Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya City Councils have issued compounds to two of the warehouses, and one of the warehouses has been seized under Section 101(V) of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171).
