Johor Teacher Becomes Instant Millionaire After Winning RM1 Million Bank Rakyat Prize

Date:

A history teacher from Johor became an instant millionaire after winning the RM1 million grand prize in a lucky draw campaign organised by Bank Rakyat through its i-Rizq Plus Investment Account.

Low Hui Yong, 58, was officially announced as the winner during the Raikan Jutaan Ganjaran event held at Bank Rakyat Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

The prize was presented by Bank Rakyat’s Chief Retail Banking Officer Khairudin Abdul Rahman.

Speaking after receiving the prize, Low admitted she initially believed the phone call informing her of the win was a scam.

“When I received the call, I really couldn’t believe I had been chosen as the winner,” she said.

“At first, I honestly thought it was a scam call and didn’t trust it at all. But after visiting the Bank Rakyat branch in Nusajaya, they confirmed it was real.”

The teacher said she plans to use the prize money to help fund her child’s future education.

The RM1 million giveaway is part of Bank Rakyat’s i-Rizq Plus Investment Account reward structure, which produces one millionaire every quarter through its Jutawan Draw campaign.

The event also celebrated winners from the “We’ll Take You There” campaign, which offered total prizes worth RM330,000 involving several banking products including Credit Card-i, Personal Financing-i, Home Financing-i and Vehicle Financing-i.

In another category, Mohd Azri Arifin from Kelantan won the grand prize under the Special Financing Campaign for the Public Sector, taking home a Proton e.MAS 5 electric vehicle.

Meanwhile, Bank Rakyat Group chief executive officer Ahmad Shahril Mohd Shariff said this marked the fourth Jutawan Draw held since the i-Rizq Plus Investment Account was introduced in 2022.

According to him, the investment product has received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers nationwide.

He explained that the initiative was not only created as an investment platform, but also to encourage Malaysians to strengthen their saving and investment habits in preparation for future economic challenges.

“This proves that smart financial planning and consistent investments can create major changes in someone’s life,” he said.

Ahmad Shahril also revealed that the search for the next i-Rizq Plus millionaire is ongoing, with another Jutawan Draw scheduled for July.
