A 36-year-old Indonesian domestic worker has been sentenced to seven days in jail by a Singapore court after admitting to falsely claiming she was raped by her employer’s husband.
The woman began working for a local family in Ubi in May 2023, taking care of their household and the couple’s one-month-old baby. According to court documents, she later entered into a consensual sexual relationship with the 40-year-old husband in September 2024.
Prosecutors revealed that the two had engaged in sexual activity on at least four occasions at the family’s home, with the last incident occurring on February 24 this year.
However, the domestic worker later filed a police report alleging that she had been raped multiple times. She was taken to a hospital for examination and questioned several times before eventually admitting she had fabricated the claims.
Reports also stated that she had received extra pocket money from her employer’s husband during the affair. Her lawyer told the court that she regretted her actions and had wanted to end the illicit relationship after suspecting that her employer might have discovered it.
