A teacher and a group of students experienced a terrifying moment when a crocodile suddenly appeared during a lesson held inside a classroom that had been flooded.
The three-meter-long reptile was clearly seen during the incident at Sekolah Dasar Negeri (SDN) Kunjung Lampuyang, located in Teluk Sampit District, Kotawaringin Timur Regency, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Despite the severe flooding caused by high tides, the school had decided to continue classes as usual. However, residents in the surrounding area reported also encountering crocodiles swept in by the floodwaters and were unsure of their current whereabouts.
The Head of the Kotawaringin Timur Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Multazam, confirmed the incident.
He explained that water levels continued to rise while school activities carried on as normal.
“We have contacted the relevant authorities for further action. We take seriously the residents’ complaints regarding the presence of these predatory animals, which pose a danger to the community,” he said.
