A man died after allegedly falling from the third floor of a residential unit along Jalan Gombak, Kuala Lumpur while attempting to escape during a police raid on Wednesday night.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Fadil Marsus said authorities were alerted to the incident at about 9.07pm.
He explained that a team of police officers had been conducting a raid at a residential unit in the area in connection with a motorcycle theft investigation when the incident occurred.
“During the operation, two suspects are believed to have attempted to flee by jumping from the third floor of the building,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
According to Fadil, one of the suspects, a 52-year-old man, died at the scene after the fall, while the other suspect survived the incident.
Police have classified the case as a sudden death report (SDR).
In the same operation, police also detained 12 individuals, comprising four men, five women and three children, aged between three and 42 years old. Two of those arrested were Indonesian nationals.
Authorities also seized two motorcycles believed to be stolen, along with several types of drugs discovered inside the residence.
Fadil said investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of all those detained in the suspected criminal activities.
He also urged the public not to speculate about the case or circulate unverified information, warning that such actions could cause unnecessary public concern and potentially interfere with the police investigation.
