Man Found Dead in Drain After Visiting Friend for Hari Raya

Date:

An elderly man whose body was found in a drain at Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, yesterday was believed to have gone out visiting a friend for Hari Raya the day before the incident.

Gombak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, said investigations revealed that the 73-year-old man had informed his younger brother around 1 p.m. on Sunday that he was heading to a friend’s house to celebrate Hari Raya.

“However, the next morning around 9 a.m., the victim’s brother was unable to contact him. He then searched the friend’s home and surrounding areas but failed to locate him.

“The victim is believed to have accidentally fallen into the drain before being discovered by a passerby,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Noor Ariffin said police received information about the discovery of the man’s body at 12:40 p.m. yesterday.

“He was pronounced dead by a medical assistant from Sungai Buloh Hospital. The body was later taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital, and the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR),” he added.

Police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting Bandar Country Homes Police Station Chief, Assistant Superintendent Murziana Qayyisa Angu, at 012-5285499, or the Gombak District Police Headquarters operations room at 03-6126 2222.
