A 21-year-old man claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here after being accused of threatening to kill a woman earlier this month.
The accused, Muhammad Wahyu Abdullah, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to a charge of criminal intimidation involving a death threat against a woman identified as Sitti Aminah.
The offence allegedly took place at a rented room on the first floor of a building in Kampung Air at about 12.30pm on May 5.
He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
The court later fixed July 9 for pre-trial case management and allowed the accused bail of RM1,200 with two sureties.
In a separate case heard before the same court, a 41-year-old man was fined RM2,800 after admitting to possessing a stolen wall fan belonging to a petrol station.
Maarof Garib pleaded guilty to keeping the stolen wall fan from Shell Station Wisma Innoprise along Jalan UMS. The item was allegedly found in the male surau of the station at about 12.30pm on May 9.
According to court facts, the complainant discovered the wall fan missing during a routine inspection at the surau on May 7 before lodging a police report.
Police later arrested Maarof at a house in Kampung Delima, Manggatal, and recovered the missing wall fan during the operation.
The court was also told that the complainant positively identified the recovered fan as property belonging to the Shell station. Inspector Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah prosecuted both cases.
