A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) in Shah Alam late on Saturday night.
According to Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol, the incident happened at about 11.15pm on 11 January at Kilometre 9.4 of the NKVE in the direction of Shah Alam.
Initial investigations found that the victim had walked from the Klang–Damansara exit of the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) onto the expressway and was standing in the second lane from the right after attempting to cross the highway.
The driver of a car travelling along the route failed to notice the man in time and was unable to avoid him. The impact caused fatal injuries, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are still working to identify the deceased. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Dashcam footage of the incident, which has been circulating online, shows the man appearing suddenly in the middle of the highway just as the car was changing lanes, leaving the driver with no time to stop.
