Man Nabbed for Using Someone Else’s MyKad for BUDI95 Fuel Aid

Date:

A man has been arrested in Negeri Sembilan for allegedly using someone else’s identity to claim the RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy.

National Registration Department (NRD) director Datuk Badrul Hisham said authorities received a report from a MyKad holder who discovered that the BUDI95 quota had been claimed without their consent.

“Following the report, enforcement officers launched an investigation and found that a 42-year-old local man had used the subsidy at a petrol station in Rembau. He was arrested on December 26 at his home in Sungai Lui, Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Sections 25(1)(e) and 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Act 1990, which cover possession and use of someone else’s identity card for illegal purposes. If convicted, the suspect could face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both.

Badrul Hisham added that the NRD applied for a remand at Tampin Magistrate’s Court on December 27 to facilitate further investigation.

The NRD emphasized that using another person’s identity card, whether to claim government aid or for other purposes, is a serious offense and will be prosecuted. The public is reminded to immediately hand over any found identity cards to the NRD or the nearest police station.
