Man Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder of Woman in Kluang

A 56-year-old man, Ei Jean Yee, pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court today to attempting to murder a 48-year-old woman, Ng Moy Koew, at a residence in Taman Muhibbah, Kluang earlier this month.

The charge, read out in Mandarin before Judge Mujib Saroji, stated that the alleged attack occurred at 9.31 pm on March 4 at a house on Jalan Hang Tuah 1/3.

Ei is charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine, or up to 20 years if the act results in injury.

The court has scheduled April 10 for the next mention, during which medical and chemical reports will be submitted. Judge Mujib also ordered Ei to undergo a mental health evaluation at Permai Hospital.

Ei appeared in court without legal representation, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Ramizah Razli handled the prosecution.
