Man Pleads Not Guilty After Driving at Victim at Toll Plaza

Date:

A man pleaded not guilty today at the magistrates’ court to injuring another person by allegedly driving a car at him during a dispute at an RFID lane at the Perai toll plaza last month.

Khor Wei Yeak, 32, faced the charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah Akit. He is accused of voluntarily causing hurt to L. Avinash, 32, with his vehicle at around 11:30 p.m. on Dec 28.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Amalia Harun requested that bail be set at RM8,000, while Khor’s lawyer, C. Hari Prasaad Rao, asked for a lower amount, citing that his client earns only RM1,500 to RM2,000 per month and supports his wife and their five-month-old child.

The magistrate granted bail of RM5,000 with one surety and scheduled the next mention and submission of medical reports for March 4.
