70-Year-Old Rider Dies After Losing Control of Motorcycle in Lawas

A 70-year-old man tragically died after losing control of his motorcycle along KM7 of the Lawas-Merapok Road on Tuesday, police confirmed.

According to Lawas police chief DSP Liong Tindan, the senior citizen was riding toward Merapok from Lawas, likely on his way home to Long Tuma, when the accident occurred near Kampung Gaya at around 1.45pm.

“The motorcycle went out of control, skidded to the left shoulder of the road, and collided with the road barrier,” DSP Liong said. Investigations revealed that the victim sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. DSP Liong urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station.
