Professor Xu, a prominent expert in Mandarin language education at National Taipei University of Education, has been accused of engaging in multiple extramarital affairs with female teachers, principals, and even students, according to recent reports. Despite his married status, several women claim the professor repeatedly pursued them, arranging hotel or private meetups and allegedly treating his professional circle like a personal “harem.”
Xu is highly regarded in Taiwan’s education community, participating in the editing of elementary school textbooks, giving nearly a thousand lectures nationwide, hosting teacher workshops, and publishing educational materials. His upright appearance and sunny demeanor have earned him the nickname “Wang Leehom of the Education World” among female educators.
One woman, identified as Ms. A, claims she was one of Xu’s “affairs” and began investigating after noticing his erratic attention. She alleges that Xu had romantic encounters with 12 different women, including multiple overnights at hotels, hot spring resorts, and private residences. According to her, Xu once spent five consecutive nights with three different women and, on another occasion, was involved with two women in a single day.
Another woman, Ms. B, described Xu’s approach as a standardized playbook: initially pursuing women intensely, then gradually fading out once the novelty wore off. She said Xu frequently communicated warmth through daily messages, photos of cooking or exercise, and casual invites to his residence, eventually leading to sexual encounters. After a period, he would seemingly lose interest and disappear, leaving vague farewells.
Ms. B and other women noted that Xu often targeted married women, believing they would be less likely to confront him after a breakup. Despite the relationships ending, Xu would maintain friendly contact, giving the women false hope of reconciliation.
The women hope their testimonies will raise awareness and prevent other women from being deceived. They have also urged National Taipei University of Education and the Ministry of Education to take the matter seriously and not dismiss it as a private moral issue.
Professor Xu has denied all allegations, calling them “groundless” and declined further comment. He added that he is currently troubled by suspicions that a tracking device may have been installed on him, which he has reported to authorities.
