The Shah Alam City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam) has launched an investigation into a staff member after a video showing a cigarette butt being discarded from a council vehicle went viral on social media.
In a statement, MBSA said the case has been referred to its Integrity Unit for further investigation and appropriate disciplinary action in line with council regulations and code of conduct.
The council stressed that it takes misconduct seriously and will not tolerate any behaviour that violates its standards.
The incident came to light after footage circulated online showing a council vehicle stopping at a traffic light, where a hand from the rear window is seen flicking a cigarette butt onto the road.
The clip quickly drew widespread criticism from social media users, with many questioning the behaviour of public service personnel and calling for stricter enforcement of discipline.
